BBQ Brisket Melts

These BBQ Brisket Melts combine tender, smoky brisket with melted cheese on toasted bread for a hearty, flavorful sandwich perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked BBQ brisket, shredded
  • 4 slices sourdough bread
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • Optional: pickled jalapeños for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. In a bowl, mix shredded brisket with BBQ sauce until evenly coated.
  3. Butter one side of each sourdough slice.
  4. Place two slices butter-side down on the skillet.
  5. Layer brisket mixture, sliced onions, and cheddar cheese evenly over the bread in the skillet.
  6. Top with the remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
  7. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the bread is golden and crisp, then carefully flip and cook the other side until cheese is melted and bread is toasted.
  8. Remove from skillet, slice, and garnish with pickled jalapeños if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

For an extra smoky flavor, add a few dashes of smoked paprika to the brisket before assembling the melts.
