Chicken Lasagna Bake

This Chicken Lasagna Bake is a comforting, cheesy Italian-inspired casserole combining tender chicken, rich tomato sauce, and layers of pasta for a hearty family meal.

  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
  • 9 no-boil lasagna noodles
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the onion and garlic until soft and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the shredded chicken, marinara sauce, dried oregano, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Stir to combine and simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. In a large baking dish, spread a thin layer of the chicken sauce on the bottom.
  5. Layer 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce.
  6. Spread half of the ricotta cheese over the noodles, then sprinkle with a third of the mozzarella and a bit of chopped basil.
  7. Repeat the layers: sauce, noodles, ricotta, mozzarella, basil.
  8. Top with the remaining noodles, sauce, mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, and basil.
  9. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake an additional 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  11. Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before serving to set.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle crispy fried onions on top before serving or serve with a fresh green salad for a complete meal.
