Guacamole

Guacamole is a creamy, fresh avocado-based dip, perfect for snacking or as a flavorful accompaniment to Mexican dishes.

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 small tomato, diced
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 pinch ground cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl.
  2. Add lime juice and salt to the avocado and mash with a fork until mostly smooth but still chunky.
  3. Stir in diced onion, chopped cilantro, diced tomato, and minced garlic.
  4. Add cayenne pepper if using, and mix well to combine all ingredients evenly.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt or lime juice if desired.
  6. Serve immediately with tortilla chips or as a topping for tacos and other dishes.

Notes

For a creamier texture, add a spoonful of sour cream. Serve guacamole fresh to prevent browning, or cover tightly with plastic wrap pressed directly onto the surface.
