French Onion Dip

French Onion Dip is a creamy, savory dip made with caramelized onions and sour cream, perfect for parties and snacking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Chopped fresh chives or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  2. Add sliced onions, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and sugar; cook, stirring occasionally, until onions are deeply caramelized, about 25-30 minutes.
  3. Remove onions from heat and let cool completely.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, remaining salt, and black pepper.
  5. Stir in cooled caramelized onions until evenly mixed.
  6. Cover and refrigerate dip for at least 2 hours to allow flavors to meld.
  7. Garnish with chopped chives or parsley before serving.

Notes

For an extra kick, add a pinch of smoked paprika or serve with fresh vegetable sticks alongside chips.
